Grant Distribution

Opti.domains is delighted to announce that we have received a grant of 50,000 OP, subject to a one-year lockup. We cordially invite you to explore our grant proposal, available at https://gov.optimism.io/t/ready-gf-phase-1-proposal-opti-domains-interoperable-domain-name-for-the-op-stack/5510.

The grant is slated for the following distribution:

  • 20,000 OP towards salary and cost reimbursement: Spread over a 12-month period, this equates to roughly 1,600 OP per month. This allocation is justifiable given the sophisticated development required, along with the management of hackathons that are envisaged to yield long-term benefits.
  • 10,000 OP for the marketing budget: Disbursed over 12 months, it amounts to approximately 800 OP per month. This funding is crucial for initiating marketing campaigns without which decentralized work and developer hackathons may be unfeasible.
  • 10,000 OP for decentralized work: Tasks will be broken down and dependencies analyzed. Given an average allocation of 200 OP per task, we are anticipating around 50 tasks. This should suffice to bootstrap the profile feature with a medium-sized group of university students.
  • 10,000 OP as hackathon rewards: Our hackathons, specifically designed for developers, aim to foster creativity and the development of mini public goods with rewards from various stakeholders. We intend to award 2,000 OP per hackathon, distributed over five hackathons.

However, we acknowledge that the one-year lockup attached to our grant could significantly impact our liquidity, potentially impeding the organization of our planned campaigns. We are diligently working on a solution to this challenge and will make an announcement detailing our strategy in due course.
